We are most grateful to the Canada Summer Works program for supporting our student, Austin Formagin as he conducted an on-site waste audit.
The audit allowed us to compare the current progress of waste diversion as compared to three years ago.
A key goal of the audit was to determine where we stand compared to local, provincial and previously audited waste diversion rates.
We were successful in discovering where adjustments could be made so that LEED standards could be achieved. On average, we are only 6% short of the goal of 50% for single use waste.
Our communal waste management is a work in progress. Thanks Austen for moving along both sisters and staff in this challenge to love the Earth with our actions.
