O’HANLON, SR. MAY (Alice Mary), formerly Sr. St. Andrew, entered eternal life on July 8, 2024 at St. Angela’s Meadow Retirement Lodge, Chatham. She entered the Ursuline Sisters in Waterford, Ireland in 1951, then came to Sarnia, Ontario and in 1966 she joined and was received into the Ursulines of Chatham.
Sr. May served in Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Quebec where she worked in parish ministry, education, and religious education as well as in Ursuline Leadership at the local and general levels, in finance and in various other Ursuline ministries.
She was born in Waterford, Ireland in 1933, the daughter of the late Thomas and Eileen (Drury) O’Hanlon. She is survived by her niece, Bernadette Cosgrove, her nephew, Hugh O’Hanlon and many grandnieces and grandnephews, all of Ireland. She is predeceased by her brothers, Michael and James O’Hanlon.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the Ursuline Community at a prayer service to be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at 2 p.m. in the Kiva at St. Angela’s Meadow Retirement Lodge, 20 Merici Way, Chatham. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 10 a.m. in the Kiva at St. Angela’s Meadow Retirement Lodge. Interment will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery. In memory of Sr. May’s (Maisie) commitment to Amnesty International, Aboriginal and AIDS concerns, donations to these charities would be appreciated.
